Croatia’s Defense Minister, Ivan Anusic, announced that the country will transfer 30 M-84 tanks and 30 M-80 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine.
The delivery, part of a “ring exchange” agreement with Germany, could be completed by the end of the year. In return, Germany will provide funds enabling Croatia to acquire up to 50 Leopard 2A8 tanks, considered highly advanced.

In addition to the tanks and combat vehicles, Croatia will send spare parts and ammunition to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This transfer will be sufficient to fully equip two Ukrainian battalions, one tank battalion and one mechanized battalion.

Croatia, currently operating Yugoslav M-84 tanks in the M-84A4 version—featuring an upgraded fire control system, stabilizer, and laser rangefinder, but lacking dynamic protection—is modernizing its arsenal with the Leopard 2A8.
The M-80A infantry fighting vehicle, also included in this transfer, is equipped with a 20mm automatic cannon and has previously been supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
These Croatian donations are expected to significantly bolster Ukraine’s forces on the battlefield, leveraging both Croatia’s defense modernization efforts and military support from Germany.
